Week 5 Golden Brown

Golden Brown - The stranglers

 I will be individually analysing the song 'golden brown' by the stranglers. I will be analysis the sonic and musical components of the song.

 Time signature -  After counting the time signature, I managed to get 6/4

Tempo - I counted the beats per minute of 15 seconds then multiplied it by 4. The end result was 94 BPM.

Instrumentation

The Piano Is being played in the back ground of the song, It has short stabby notes which makes it staccato. This stays the same throughout the song.
  • Harpsichord 
The harpsichord is the focus of the song. It has notes flowing into one an other. This makes it legato.
  • Double Bass
The double bass plays in the back ground to accompany the lead and rhythmic melodies.

The electric guitar comes

What is the tempo? -  140 BPM What is the time signature? -  4/4 Balance and pan of the instruments -  2 minutes and 35 seconds into the song, there is a piano which is quite quiet and at the back of the track. It is also hard panned to the right. The lead vocals are dead centre of the track.
